Seth Bogart Polyester zine Non threatening boys cover

Seth Bogart joins our Zoom call from bed. He’s on a break from his tour with Hunx and His Punx, which sees him performing for the first time after a 12 year hiatus from the band. This isn’t a mid-tour break, or even a quarter tour break, though – Seth’s completed two shows and needs some time off. Tour hits different after over a decade away.

Seth’s interviewer, former Polyester cover girl Sarah Sherman, connects to the video chat from the colourful chaos of her New York apartment, taking time to show Seth the various accoutrements she has furnished the flat with. First, however, she stands up to show us that she is wearing Seth’s merch – a t-shirt collaboration with John Waters for his Academy Museum exhibition in 2023. Throughout their conversation, it’s a joy to listen to not just the conversation between peers who have been fans of one another for years, but to two artists who genuinely value the glorious grossness of life and celebrate it in all of their creative outputs. Here, Sarah and Seth get stuck into topics ranging from beauty school, taking edibles at Disney World, John Waters, and “eating pee.”
