Make it stand out
For our second Bed Issue cover, Polyester are proud to present the new girls in town. As temperatures soared in early July, we welcomed the NYX Cosmetics Community into our fold for an extra special week putting together work for this issue. These images feature six very stunning creators - Madhu, Richie, Awa, Barakat, Zhané and Cambell - all handpicked from the NYX Cosmetics creator programme, in which the beauty brand selects budding influencers and guides them on their journey to super stardom. Bringing these six onto set for two days filled our office with jokes, screeches and a real enthusiasm for the importance of re-contextualising beauty as not aspirational, but a space for commonality, celebration and inclusive values.
In between shots, we gabbed about mutual goals, what makeup means to us and how the internet has equalised opportunity and visibility. On set, the words ‘if you NYX, you know’ never rang more true, with their community really proving the girls that get it, get it. Their chemistry shines through our NYX community cover editorial - and we couldn’t feel luckier to have spent time with each of these legends in the making. Across the editorial, Polyester Beauty editor Grace Ellington offers a couple of tips for recreating the glowing skin and pops of pink that feature on the faces of our new BFFs.

I used Smushy Matte Lip Balm two ways on Cambell, in Swipe Sesh to create a velvety pink lip, and in Sweet Smack as a soft blurry blusher. A little Buttermelt Highlighter in Bright and Butta on the brow bone completes the look.
