This month, MACK / SPBH Editions released Physique, a collection of over 250 rare physique photography prints from the collection of Vince Aletti. Spanning almost four decades, these photographs “chronicle a hidden, coded world of homoerotic imagery [...] an emergent queer sensibility and visibility.”

When my copy arrived in the post, the reaction was threefold: Firstly, that it was immediately, heftily, beautiful. Secondly, that the experience of being handed a large volume of images of naked men by the postman couldn't help but make me giggle. And lastly, that nervousness subsiding, I realised pretty quickly that I didn’t immediately have the language to write well about this work.
