being visible.

Do you think about the way that you’d like to be seen -
from a very far distance, closer, interrupted by a city in surge, girl
in motion colliding with the street.

So much of the means of our self-reflection and self-documentation has
been thrust into our control and close proximity; the lens gets
closer, the image more unwieldy. A photograph can be a portal but it
means nothing unless you step through it, an avatar can hold your
place but you have to touch grass sooner or later.
What can you gain from turning your observation outward, focusing your
eyes into the distance and waiting for someone else to come into view?
What will they see if they meet your gaze?
