1 - Magazine Clutch Bags
Do NOT spend more than £15 on these. I have a stunning one featuring a cover for a fake magazine called Paparazzi with a ballerina on. Truly you can find every mainstream y2k fashion mag you have ever dreamt of but the images on them go back to the ‘70s. Plus they’re big enough to fit a phone, purse, and vape.
2 - Avon Perfume and Soap
If you’re looking for little trinkets but sick of mini-so’s monopoly on the world then may I introduce you to… Vintage Avon. Obviously none of these items can ever be used but both the soaps and the perfume bottles are so cute, I have one in my bathroom and have to stop myself buying 200 more and becoming a hoarder. They are all perfect.
3 - General tip, Vivienne Westwood
I keep seeing girlies flog the Vivenne Westwood x Melissa shoes on instagram for hundreds of pounds - DO NOT FALL FOR IT. You can buy them on Vinted for £20. You can also buy pretty much anything apart from seditionaries era westwood for under £100. The resale value is crap so don’t buy with a view of reselling but if you love westwood now is the time to get a barg

Every week (or it feels like every week) Crosstown launch a new novelty donut and it’s always not only cool af but also outrageously delish. My most recent try was the Bride one, and it was nom nom nom.
I’ve been in a big horrible reading slump and angelic Jenn brought in a stack of books she thought I’d love. This is the first one I read and I finished it in one day - she was right!! This stream of consciousness semi-fiction book was a perfect read!
This film is out this month and is one of the most original new movies I’ve seen in ages! You kind of feel like you’re in a play with all the SFX and cast playing multiple roles, but honestly in the best best way.
We’ve got to work at a few of these and really think young people should make the most of the incredible programming!! If you wanna get out of the house this March, head on down

I’ve spent 2026 in my own personal lockdown, resulting in my teenage personality and interests having returned in a full nerd reversal. I be reading manga and comics and shit.
I spent my entire Sunday watching MTV Oddities animations on the Internet Archive (including The Maxx which is incredible. Sidenote: I usually hate superhero stuff but this is a very specific dark 90s gothic slash Downtown slash Monkey Dust vibes and apparently Channing Tatum is in talks for a remake???).
One thing I hate about our current era is that a) social media algorithms weirdly hate drawings and b) nobody has the patience or commissioning budget to hire animators and c) AI thinks it eats when it's actually cringe. Which leads me to worrying that we’re probably losing out on so many fun stories being told through this medium. Why is there no UK animation platform? Adult Swim is carrying.
Thankfully, my YouTube recommended has understood my wavelength and has once again treated me to a lovely morsel of entertainment in the form of Amy Hewett’s annual upload. Her visual language is unique yet eminiscent of this grungy 90s style that I love so much, with topics that feel super relevant to now including like... the state of modern dating and imagining what the end of the world would be like.
If anyone else has any more animations of this ilk, please DM. I am an insatiable freak.

Film: KPop Demon Hunters
Surprisingly, I haven’t actually seen that many of this year’s Oscar nominated films, but I have seen KPop Demon Hunters, and I’m backing it 100%. I don’t normally watch kids movies, but I was in the perfect post-Sailor Moon sweet spot to fully get swept up in this viral cinema sensation. A KPop girl band carry on the ancient tradition of protecting the human world from demons with their music, but face a more formidable enemy when a rival KPop idol band of hot demon boys turns up and they start losing their powers. The animation is cute, the characters are fun, the music is catchy, I fully support any and all mania for this film. I want to see an awards show performance where they are holograms, like Hatsune Miku, or The Gorillaz that one time with Madonna.
TV series - Broadchurch season 2
Been watching this British detective series from the start of the year, mainly because I love Olivia Colman and occasionally David Tennant, and it’s absolutely great. Season 1 was classic, more a straight up country-village whodunnit where everyone’s a suspect, whereas season 2 is a what-happens-next, with an extensive court trial and deeper dives into our lead detectives’ troubled past. Series regulars Olivia and David make great odd couple cops, and grieving mother Jodie Whittaker frowns a lot, but what really makes season 2 sing is its supporting cast. Legendary icon Charlotte Rampling plays a veteran crown prosecutor duking it out with the always incredible Marianne Jean-Baptiste in defence, assisted by a very smug and evil Phoebe Waller-Bridge (whatever happened to her?). Gwen from Torchwood also pops up and everyone goes wild. Very juicy, great dramatic performances, a smorgasbord of British talent, five stars.
Film: Rebecca
Had such a bad taste left in my mouth from Emerald Fenell’s Wuthering Shites I had to revisit some classic gothic horror romance just to restore my faith in literary adaptations. This 1940 Hitchcock masterpiece stands the test of time, and will still be great another hundred years from now. The rich widower Max De Winter brings home his shy new wife to a sprawling estate haunted by the ghost of his charismatic first wife Rebecca and the people who loved her, the playboy cad Jack Favell and the sinister lesbian housekeeper Mrs Danvers. Closely following Daphne du Maurier’s 1938 novel, every performance shines and every moment crackles with tension. This is how to do modern gothic. Mind you, the less said about the 2020 remake starring perennial drip Lily James and actual cannibal Armie Hammer the better, so maybe it’s time to try some new stories instead of constantly nostalgia-maxxing? Just a thought.

Book: Casanova 20: Or, Hot World by Davey Davis
I’m only half way through this book so if it takes a sexually violent third act please do not crucify me, but I’m really enjoying this one. The main story is about a man called Adrian who was cursed with exceptional beauty who discovers, after the covid pandemic, that he is no longer beautiful. Davey Davis previous book ‘X’ also brilliant too.

Sports can pass me by, but this Winter Olympics I have been - like everyone in the world - enraptured by Alysa Liu. Watching her dance to Stateside (the Zara Larsson remix) at the Olympics Closing Gala made me smile so big it kinda hurt a bit.
