Obsessions: Naomi Anderson-Subryan on The Sims

Every other week we'll be picking the brain of a different creative about something they admire that has nothing to do with how they generate their income.

Delving deep into the minds of our favourite people's deepest obsessions, this week we're joined by the incredible Naomi Anderson-Subryan. The artist, illustrator, and ceramicist tells us all about her obsession with THE SIMS! Everybody's, (and by everybody's we mean Ione's), favourite lockdown game of choice. From how Naomi has spent hours watching Sims build videos, and how her focus has shifted from storytelling to world-building, to how The Sims provided a childhood outlet for creation which led the way for her artistic practice. Should The Sims be representative of our real world? Are we all traumatised from pulling the ladders out of the pool and letting our characters burn? Naomi and Ione discuss all this and more!

The Polyester Podcast is brought to you by Polyester's founding editor in chief Ione Gamble (@ionegamble), and co-hosted and produced by Olivia Graham (@og.irl). Polyester is a self published culture zine exploring intersectional URL feminism in the IRL world. Have faith in your own bad taste!
