Our Besties Issue cover star Hannah Einbinder has had a hell of a summer - as the final season of Hacks, in which she had her breakout role, wrapped, her next project was just beginning. As Kris in Jane Schoenbrun’s most ambitious feature yet, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, Hannah stars alongside Gillian Anderson as a young director tasked with breathing new life into a written-off horror franchise. As she delves further into the world of the movie, accompanied by Anderson’s Billy Presley - an actress who starred in one of the original films - Kris finds out more about herself than she bargained for.

It’s yet another convincing, nuanced, emotional performance from Hannah - and while she herself has been top of everyone else’s watchlist this summer, we caught up with her onset to find out what’s been on hers, as well as what she’s listening to, who her favourite actors are, and which comedy special we should be tuning into.

What are you listening to right now?

I’m listening to a lot of Linda Ronstadt right now, I was just in Texas and I heard someone playing some Linda and in the setting it made a lot of sense, and now I listen to it to try to transport myself back there.

Who is on your acting Mount Rushmore?

Philip Seymour Hoffman, Viola Davis, Jim Carrey… and I’m assuming there’s four heads on the mountain but I don’t know, so I’m gonna do four. Lastly I would say: Jean Smart.

My favourite comedian right now is Chris Fleming - he has a special out and you should check it out.
